Bastet Porcelain Mosaic Leopard Statue

A seated panther clad by hand in fragments of blue-and-white porcelain, the shards laid across the head, torso, legs, and tail so the surface follows every curve of the form. The pose is upright and still, with the front legs straight, hind legs tucked, tail curled neatly beside the rear paws. The head turned in profile to give the silhouette a poised, watchful line.

Crisp white grounds meet rich cobalt blue across the surface, each shard carrying its own miniature motif — florals, scrollwork, ornamental vessels — so the decoration changes at every point of the body. Because the porcelain was broken after decoration rather than made for the mosaic, the motifs appear in fragments: a partial bloom here, a cut scroll there, some pieces reduced to pure blue on white. Light catches the glossy ceramic edges and picks out the blue work on individual shards, giving the sculpture a segmented, faceted surface that rewards close looking.

The body is fiber-reinforced polymer, hard and stable, with the porcelain applied over it by hand. Available facing left or right.
